All 2013 Tournament Matches Completed
All 2013 Fox Chapel Junior Open singles and doubles matches were completed shortly before 1 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 8, thanks to great weather and well-maintained facilities. There were 140 singles entries, 40 doubles teams and 221 matches played at four venues over four, mostly sunny days. None of the matches were delayed by rain. Thank you all for participating. And a special thanks to the Fox Chapel Racquet Club for hosting this event for the 16th consecutive year and to the Pittsburgh Field Club, the Fox Chapel Golf Club and Shady Side Academy for the use of their courts, and to Fox Chapel Area High School for the use of their courts for practice. Sportsmanship Award Winners Announced
Fernando Escribens of Upper St. Clair and Lindsey Miller of Cranberry Township are the Sportsmanship Award Winners for 2013. Escribens competed in the Boys’ 18 singles and doubles while Miller competed in Girls’ 16 singles and Girls’ 18 doubles. In a field of 152 competitors, most of them exhibiting very good sportsmanship, they were nominated by their peers and chosen by tournament officials as exemplifying the very best attributes of playing both hard and fair -- and with a positive attitude.

One of Four AMD "Designated" Tournaments
The 16th Annual Fox Chapel Junior Open is one of four AMD "Designated" Tournaments, awarding double the District Ranking points as a standard tournament. This is a "Player Friendly" event, awarding six trophies in each singles divisions and having a full First Match Losers Consolation in singles, played out to a Consolation Winner and Finalist. Doubles is single-elimination with trophies to the Champion and Finalist teams. The tournament moves at a fast pace with two-matches a day for most players using No-Ad Scoring and a Supertiebreaker to decide the match if the sets are split.

Entry to this tournament is open to all USTA members. Entries must be submitted by Monday, July 29, 2013 11:00:00 PM Eastern Time. Only USTA members can register online if available.
