DCTA Australian Open
The Australian Open is the first of five tournaments sponsored each year by the Downeast Community Tennis Association. In the first four tournaments participants earn "dollars" which accumulate throughout the year. These "dollars" are equal to those paid the actual players in the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon and US Open. They may be used to "buy" tennis items at a silent auction held at the final tournament of the year, the Masters. Only the top players are invited to this prestigious event. All Australian Open matches will be played at the beautiful River Birch Tennis Center conviently located on the grounds of Evans Park at 513 W. Arlington Blvd., in Greenville, NC. A wholesome lunch will be served on Saturday. All matches will be the best 2 out of 3 sets, with the 3rd a championship tie-breaker. Join us for a fun filled, competitive weekend of tennis while adding valuable points toward your State ranking as this is a sanctioned event. This Australian Open also features non-sanctioned Mens/Womens 2.5 singles matches. This permits inexperienced players to join the fun without having the expense of joining the USTA.
