Nike Jr. Tour
The Nike Junior Tour (NJT) is a worldwide series of junior tournaments sponsored by Nike. NJT tournaments are for boys and girl’s 12’s and 14’s. Nike’s objective in creating the NJT is to “energize and develop players through events and partnerships with Federations” and to “create excitement, passion and fun in tennis”. In the eight years since its inception, the NJT has expanded to include 23 countries with over 45,000 players participating worldwide. This year will mark the sixth year that the United States has participated in this unique junior tournament opportunity.
Participating USTA sections run a local championship that produces four winners for their section (B & G 12s & 14s). Those winners join the other NJT section winners at the NJT USA National Masters at Stanford University in September. NJT USA National Masters winners go on to play in the NJT International Masters in November 2008 (location TBA).
The following affects only players in the 14s and 12s and interested in the NJT tour: Only players, who meet the ITF (International Tennis Federation) eligibility cutoff of December 31, will be eligible to qualify for the NJT USA and International Masters events. Example: If you are currently 12 but will turn 13 on or before December 31 you cannot play in the 12’s and therefore must enter the 14’s. Players who do not meet the ITF eligibility cutoff but are still the appropriate age for the NJT sectional events may still participate in their sectional events but will not be eligible to play at the USA Masters event at Stanford.
Places first through fourth will recieve Nike prizes. All BG 12 and 14 players will recieve an NJT t-shirt.
Good Luck toward winning a free trip to the 2008 Nike National Masters!
