Planning your stay. Because of the compass-draw format, no player will be eliminated from singles until sometime on Monday. We suggest that you make hotel reservations for the longest stay that you can imagine. It is often difficult to extend your stay when your daughter advances beyond your expectations. Additonally, rain can always be a factor in when you will actually leave. We suggest making your airline reservations for the longest period that you anticipate staying. Standing by for an earlier flight is probably cheaper than confirming a later departure date.

On-Site Alternates
If you are not admitted prior to check-in on Friday, you may be an on-site alternate for singles play on Saturday and play doubles (whether or not you play singles, if there is a vacancy). The last first-round match is usually scheduled at approximately 12:30. Effective January 1, 2009 Tthe procedure for accepting on-site alternates into the draw was rewritten for clarification as follows: The Tournament Committee shall establish a procedure for checking in on-site alternates and instruct players in the Tournament Information Brochure. The procedure shall include the following: ...Any alternate desiring admittance must check in and be ready for play no later than 15 minutes prior to the first scheduled match time of the event for which they are an alternate. The order of the alternates is based on the original Alternate List published by the tournament, not a more recent National Standings List, and not in the order in which the players check in. If an alternate arrives late, he may be accepted after all on-time alternates. If more than one arrive late and all on-time alternates have been admitted, late arrivals will be accepted in the order in which each falls on the alternate list at the time the vacancy occurs.
