Concept
This event is a team event with individual matches counting towards an Academy's final score. This event is unique in that we will allow players to be coached during the matches during set breaks only by tournament registered academy coaches. Each Academy can bring up to 4 coaches for the event. All coaches will be clearly identified by a badge worn around the neck. Coaching by anyone without a badge is a violation of Friend at Court. Each main draw singles or doubles match win is worth 2 points consolation is worth 1 point to a cumulative academy score. The Academy with the highest point total will be awarded $500 at the conclusion of the event if the academy brings at least 20 players.
Players may still sign up for this event if they are not representing an academy.
You may only play in ONE doubles event, Mixed or Gender doubles in addition to singles. In short, each player may only play in 2 events
Yes, there will be players playing other players from their academy, there is no way around this. Yes, the academies that bring the most players have a better chance of success Yes the draws are limited to 16 players and selection is made from the USTA GA Standings list Yes players should play in their age group. If this event goes as planned it may become a STA Level 3 event in the future. Coaches will need to register their players with the tournament desk prior to the first match being played. No changes will be made after the first ball is hit
