REGISTRATION/CHECK IN
MEDICAL RELEASE FORMS ARE REQUIRED AND MUST BE TURNED IN PRIOR TO YOUR FIRST MATCH. Medical release forms will be available to fill out at all sites. Tournament registration will be at The CITADEL on Friday from 2-6pm. You must check in at The Citadel prior to your first match IF YOU OWE MONEY FOR ENTRY FEES AND DOUBLES IF YOU DIDN'T PAY ONLINE. We are able to take cash or check only. Please bring your medical release to your first match and turn in when you arrive or you will have to fill one out when you arrive. YOU MUST CHECK IN 30 MINUTES BEFORE YOUR SCHEDULED MATCH TIME.

TOURNAMENT RULES
This tournament uses conduct rules above and beyond those enforced by the USTA. Players participating in tournaments at the facilities identified are required to abide by these facility rules of behavior on and off of the court. These rules also apply to parents, coaches, siblings, and other guests of the players. The list below indicates the Tournament Rules: * No use of the word "suck" or any form of the word spoken or spelled. * No use of expressions of frustrations with references to deities (i.e. "Oh My God", "Jesus", "Jesus Christ", "Christ", "God") either spoken or spelled. * No use of "freaking", "frigging", or "fricking" or variations of such words either spoken or spelled. * No Smoking anywhere on the premises. Premises includes parking lots, bathrooms, and anywhere within 30 feet of a tennis court. Verbal rules apply to any language. We have officials on sight who are fluent in many languages. Anyone found in violation of these rules may be subject to a Code Violation and receive suspension points.

Welcome to the SC State Open Championships held at The Citadel in Charleston, SC. This is a USTA Southern Level 4 and USTA_SC Level 2 tournament. The SC Jr. State Open is prod to be part of the TennisRecruiting.net National Showcase Series. Tournaments in the National Showcases are USTA sanctioned junior tournaments open to all players from all USTA Sections. These tournaments are designed to give players from all parts of the country the chance to compete outside their districts and sections. The results of all events (BG18-12) will count towards TennisRecruiting.net rankings. Players who compete in these tournaments and who win at least one singles match will become NATIONAL PLAYERS for their TennisRecruiting.net rankings. The SC State Open Championships is proud to be part of the Tennis
Recruiting.net National Showcase Series. Tournaments in the National Showcases

AVOIDANCE REQUESTS
I will try and accommodate avoidance requests for a Friday match and start as late as possible for requests sent to me BY SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 2017 in the order that they are received. You MUST ENTER the tournament first and then send me the request to be considered. We will not accept avoidance requests if you are 1. not already entered, and 2. after SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 9 ...AGAIN, you must enter FIRST, then send the avoidance request for a chance to play later on Friday if necessary. LATE ENTRIES
We are NOT accepting any late entries that would affect seeding. Any late entries that are accepted will be charged $100 to get in the tournament. That is ONLY IF we are able to get the player in. DO NOT WAIT TO ENTER UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE!! Many times the night of the deadline you may encounter problems processing.

Matches may begin as early as 4:00pm Friday, September 15 singles and
doubles.

Doubles Divisions
YOU ARE ABLE TO PLAY IN A DIFFERENT AGE GROUP IN DOUBLES THAN IN
SINGLES.

Match Play Format (14's through 18's)
All main draw matches will be best 2 out of 3 sets with a match tiebreak in
lieu of a 3rd set UNTIL THE QUARTERFINALS. We will play 2 out of three
FULL SETS from the QUARTERFINALS THROUGH THE FINALS IN MAIN DRAW
INCLUDING THE 3/4 PLAYOFF. All consolation matches will be best 2 out of 3
sets with a match tiebreak in lieu of the 3rd set. Consolation is a First Match
Losers Consolation (FMLC). The Referee reserves the right to change the scoring
in the main draw, if we have inclement weather. Doubles will play an 8-game
Pro Set.

SITES:
We are using four sites for the tournament. You may be playing at any of the sites we are using so please PAY ATTENTION TO THE DRAWS AND LOCATION OF THE MATCH. It is THE PLAYERS RESPONSIBILITY to know where there match is. Each site being used is no more that 3 miles away from the Citadel campus. Penalties for lateness will be enforced.

Directions from 1-26 East (to Citadel)
Take Rutledge Ave exit (219-A). Follow Rutledge Ave 1.2 miles, then turn right on Moultrie Street. Follow Moultrie Street until it ends at Lesesne Gate, the main entrance to The Citadel.

Directions from US 17 South (to Citadel)
After crossing the Ravenel Bridge, continue along US 17 South, then turn right onto Hagood Ave at McDonald's. Follow Hagood Ave past the football stadium and enter The Citadel through the Hagood gate or if the gate is closed, turn right onto Huger St, turn left after one block onto Elmwood St, then turn left after one block and enter The Citadel through the Lesesne Gate

Directions From US 17 North (to Citadel)
Immediately after passing the Round Holiday Inn and crossing the Ashley River Bridge, exit US 17 toward the right, but stay in the exit ramp's left hand lane until you reach the traffic light. Turn left onto Lockwood Dr., continue .5 miles and turn right onto Fishburne St just before the baseball park. Go .3 miles, then turn left at the stop light onto Hagood Ave. Follow Hagood Ave past the football stadium and enter The Citadel through the Hagood gate or if the gate is closed, turn right onto Huger St, turn left after one block onto Elmwood St, then turn left after one block and enter The Citadel through the Lesesne Gate.

10 and under Green ball DIVISIONS
Boys and Girls 10 and under will use the 10 and under format Kids play the best of 3 sets with the first to win 4 games wins a set. You must win by 2 games. If the score is 4 all, a 7 point tiebreak is played (must win by 2 points). If players split sets, a 7 point tiebreak is played for the third set. DOUBLES will be an 6 game pro set. Add scoring will be used

We will have limited ice at all sites for the players. Please fill up your coolers at the hotel as best you can.

Warm Up Courts
Please look at www.tennismaps.com for Charleston area tennis courts. You will find courts open to the public to possibly warm up on. Players may warm up for their matches at the site where they are playing before the first matches start each day.

THERE ARE NO INDOOR COURTS IN CHARLESTON...WE WILL SPREAD OUT TO ADDITIONAL FACILITIES AS BEST WE CAN TO CATCH UP IF THERE IS BAD WEATHER.

Selection Process
All singles draws are limited to 64 players. Doubles will be limited to 32 teams. Selections will be made based on the most recent USTA/SOUTHERN standings as of the deadline.

AVOIDANCE REQUEST INFORMATION-as of August 30
This tournament will start on Friday. Depending on how large your age division is you could play as early as Friday at 4:00pm in singles or doubles. If you have an avoidance request for a LATER start time on Friday I will be accepting them through 12:00 midnight Saturday, September 9th. I will do my best to accommodate your request. Some players may not have to play until Saturday, but we will not know that until all entries are in and seeding's are done. Please see additional information below...

Progression event. This means that in order to play in the 10U division offered
you must be in the corresponding level. If you are not able to register for 10U
