Great Finish!
The rain gods finally got their revenge, so we had to finish the last few games indoors, but the tournament had a great first year, the race went off without a hitch (it discovered a nice dry of time this morning), and plans are underway for 2013!

Updated Schedule
If numbers stay essentially as they are, girls will play a round-robin. Two matches Saturday (9 and 12), one Sunday (9 a.m.). Some boys will play 2 p.m. Friday. All will play Saturday, starting at 9 a.m. Finals 9 a.m. Sunday. Check back Wednesday afternoon for confirmation of schedule and actual draws.

Welcome!
To the first Holabird Sports - adidas BG 18 "All-in" Junior Tennis Challenge!
Over the course of the summer, we will be adding and updating messages to this site concerning: Prizes, Selection Process, Match Format and tournament-specific rules, Tournament Hotels, Directions, Weather Updates, Seeding Criteria and Draws, and the sister event of the weekend, The Coach Jerry Martin Memorial XC Run, also to be held at McDonogh School.

New:
PRACTICE COURTS: Practice courts will be available on site throughout the tournament. A few courts will be available Thursday afternoon as well, with all 20 courts opening up for tournament participants at 5:30 p.m. when there will also be a clinic on site. More information about that as we get closer.
STRINGER: We should have a stringer on site throughout the tournament.
CONCESSION STAND: The Stowers family will be offering breakfast foods, coffee, bagels, fruit, sports drinks, sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs, fries, etc., etc., throughout the course of the event.
TRAINER: There will be a certified athletic trainer on site. If on court, request through an official. If not on court, inquire at the desk.
BALLS: The tournament will use DUNLOP tennis balls.
TENTATIVE SCHEDULE:
Friday:
8 a.m.: B18 first round main draw
10 a.m.: G18 first round main draw
12 noon: B18 main second
1 p.m.: G18 main second
2 p.m.: B18 first round consolation
3 p.m.: G18 first round consolation
Saturday:
9 a.m.: B&G18 main quarterfinals and second round consolation
12 noon: B&G18 main and consolation semi-finals
Sunday:
9 a.m.: B&G18 main and consolation finals
NOTE: Main draw finals will be chair umpired
CHECK-IN: Check in 15 minutes before your match times.
WITHDRAWAL/REFUND:
Only players selected into the tournament will be charged. No refunds for withdrawals after Competitors list has been determined. Selection will occur shortly after the August 16 entry deadline.

Prizes!
The winner of both the Boys' and Girls' singles event will receive:4 pairs of adizero or Barricade shoes, 1 adidas warm-up, 4 adidas shorts/skirts, 4 adidas crews/tanks, 4 adidas tennis t-shirts, and 4 adidas hats.
The finalists will receive: A pair adizero or barricade shoes and an adidas tennis outfit.

Selection Process
Selection for the tournament will be done by the tournament committee. Draws will be limited to 32 boys and 32 girls. Selection will be based on ITF and USTA rankings, head to head results, etc.

Match Format, Third sets, Coaching, Net cords, and other rules
The tournament will consist of two Single Elimination 32 draws with a first-round consolation. Matches will be best two of three regular scoring (with ad) tiebreak sets EXCEPT no tiebreak will be played in any third set rather, third sets will be played out, with the winner required to win by two games.
Coaching: Each player may designate one person to serve as his or her coach during the tournament. Coaching will be allowed at the fence or on court during 90-second odd-game changeovers (so not after the first game of any set) and during set breaks. Coaching that exceeds the 90 second changeover or 2 minute set break time limit or that interferes with play on adjacent courts will be penalized. Players may not leave the court for coaching or be coached during bathroom breaks. Coaching is allowed during rain delays if players have been given permission to leave the court.
Net cords: Serves that clip the net and fall in will be played - as in college and platform tennis, they will not be considered service lets.

Directions
To get to McDonogh School, take I 695 (the Baltimore Beltway) to exit 20, Reisterstown Road. Go North on Reisterstown Road (toward Owings Mills, Garrison - NOT toward Pikesville). At the 7th light, turn LEFT on McDonogh Road. The school is a mile and a half on the right. Enter the campus only via WOODS ROAD, the third entrance. Parking is available at the end of Woods Road around the athletic center. Please do not go beyond the gates. Access is required for staff, school personel, and emergency vehicles.

The emeregency on-site phone is 410 935-8331. Please do not call that number for weather information as it needs to be open for emergency communication.

Seeding Criteria, Draws, and Scheduling
Seeding and Draws will be done by committee on Wednesday, August 22. Draws and schedule will be posted on this site as soon thereafter as possible. Information about first round matches will be available on this site players will not be contacted by phone, mail, or e-mail. Seeding will be based on ITF and USTA rankings, head to head results, etc. The tentative schedule is for first round matches to begin at 8 a.m. Friday morning with second round matches to follow. Quarterfinal matches will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday with semi-final matches to follow. Finals will be held Sunday.

Site Amenities
Certified officials and athletic trainers will be on site throughout the tournament as will a stringer, concession stand, sponsor tents, etc., etc.

Players are selected manually by the tournament director after the close of registration.
Entry to this tournament is open to USTA Members, USTA Members who have an expired membership and Non-USTA Members. Entries must be submitted by Thursday, August 16, 2012 11:59:00 PM Eastern Time.
