Wilson Fall State Junior Open Championships - NC L3/ STA L4

We lost a scorecard from Barton College this weekend. If anyone picked it up by mistake please contact me so we can have it returned. Barton College is very gracious to allow us to use their facility and we would like to get this returned to them if possible.

All hardcourt matches are being moved to Snow Hill NC. The hard courts in Wilson will not be dry before late this afternoon if at all. We have spoken with NCTA and weighed are options and we feel this is the best option to complete the tournament. We will be using shortened sets. All players that were assigned to Barton or Fike HS should report to Greene Ridge Racquet Club in Snow Hill NC. The address is 609 Kingold Blvd Snow Hill NC 28580. We encourage all players to be onsite as soon as possible but the times will be as follws: 9am matches will start at 11am, 1030 matches will start at 12 noon. 12 noon matches will start at 1pm. All matches from 130 on should report as originally scheduled. THERE ARE NO CHANGES FOR LAKE WILSON 10's and 18's. Due to a scheduling conflict I had to rearrange a few times in the B10s and B18s. None of the changes involved first round matches.

All Saturday match times have been posted. These times are TENTATIVE as always. Do not assume an entire round is scheduled at the same time. Be sure to look for your specific match time. ALL 10's and 18's will play at Lake Wilson Tennis Club and do NOT need to come to Barton. All other age groups need to report to Barton 30 MINUTES PRIOR to your first match so that you can turn in your medical release and parent form as well as receive your tournament gift. It is VERY IMPORTANT that you report early as some matches will be playing at Fike HS and you will need a few minutes to travel down the street to that facility. Directions will be provided on site as well as here online if you choose to print them in advance. Sunday match times will be posted later. If you have questions use EMAIL when possible. REMEMBER to read the notes regarding traffic changes around the barton facility. We will NOT have time to give directions over the phone during the tournament. You are responsible for finding your facility and being on time. Also CHECK draws regularly for any defaults or changes. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL INFORMATION ON THIS SITE! CHECK HERE REGULARLY!

The tournament map shows the locations that may be used for the tournament however the main facility for the tournament will be Barton College Tennis Complex. We were recently made aware the intersection next to Barton College Tennis Complex will be under construction. They will be turning the intersection into a traffic circle. Due to this constuction the intersection will be closed to traffic. Please view the link to a map which shows how you will have to enter the tennis complex. The recommended route is to follow Raleigh Road Pkwy and turn left on Ward Blvd. Then make a right on Tilghman Rd. as pictured in the map. We try to assist when we can but we do NOT have the staff available to talk people through directions on tournament day. Please make arrangements to visit your sites in advance or allow enough time so that you can handle any issues that may arise on your way to the tournament. Traffic between Lake Wilson Tennis Club and Barton College Tennis Complex should not be affected. The second hard court facility will be Fike High School which is down the street from Barton and between Barton and Lake Wilson So all locations should be easy to travel between. more info

There are no refunds for players who withdraw after the selection process.

This is a North Carolina Level 3 tournament and a Level 4 Southern tournament. This tournament may start as early as 8:00 AM on Saturday. We are expecting a large turnout so we can not accomodate any conflicts. All matches will play 2 out of 3 sets with a match tiebreak in lieu of a third set. Feed-in Consolation will be used through the quarterfinals and a playoff for third and fourth may be used. The officials will be available to answer questions and settle disputes but they may not serve as line judges for individual courts. Please promote good sportsmanship. All draws with more than 8 participants will be feed-in consolation through the quarterfinals with a 3rd/4th playoff. Smaller draws may be round robins in order to maximize play. Events with 12 or more participants will be awarded 1st through 5th place awards. All other events will be awarded 1st through 3rd place awards except round robins of 3 or 4 which will be awarded 1st only.

For all NC residents NC Standiings will take precedent. For players who reside outside of NC Southern Standings wil be considered for seedings and selection. When Southern and NC Standings conflict the tournament committee will decide on a case by case basis which standings shall be used.

All draws are limited to 32 participants. Please take this into account when deciding what event to enter. The top 32 players will be chosen for each event so if you are playing in a higher age group for which you do not have ranking points you will mostly likely not be chosen for that event if the entries exceed 32.

10's and 18's events will be played on clay surfaces at Lake Wilson Tennis Club. Participants in those events will go directly to Lake Wilson and do not have to check in at the tournament headquarters. All other events will play on hard court surfaces which will be specified on the draw. Additional Information may be posted as soon as that is determined.

Players are required to submit a Completed Medical Release form and Parent Agreement before participating in the tournament. You may click the following link and print a copy of the form if you would like to complete it in advance. more info

Tournament sites will be closed 30 minutes prior to the start of play. If you would like to warm-up you should do so before this time. Practice will not be allowed during the tournament once play has begun each day. My suggestion for practice courts would be Wilson Recreation Center or one of the other High Schools in the area. There are also 2 courts along Forest Hills Road between Raliegh Road and Ward Blvd. I have no control over these facilities and cannot be responsible for the condition or availability of these sites. I would suggest checking out the sites on google maps with satellite view so you are sure of the locations.As always please send your questions by email for a more timely repsonse.

They were the only hotel that would not cancel reservations without charging a 1 night minimum. There is currently no sponsor hotel but I personally like the Candlewood Suites. more info
