PLAYER CHECK-IN
ALL PLAYERS MUST CHECK IN at Jeff Adams Tennis Center at least one hour PRIOR to their first scheduled match. First matches will begin at 8:00 am on Saturday morning. Early check-in is encouraged and will be available on Friday, November 9th from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. If you do not check-in on Friday, you MUST check in at Jeff Adams Tennis Center at least one hour prior to your first match. After initial check-in, all players should report directly to designated sites for scheduled matches. MANDATORY USTA Medical Release forms must be signed by each player's parent/guardian prior to first match.

ON-SITE ALTERNATES
We will allow ON-SITE ALTERNATES for this tournament. All on-site alternates must check in at Jeff Adams either Friday Evening during Player Registration or ONE HOUR PRIOR to the FIRST MATCH of the age division they wish to be an ON-SITE ALTERNATE for. ANY PPLAYER THAT GOES DIRECTLY TO THE SITE FOR THEIR AGE DIVISION (without checking in at Jeff Adams ahead of time), WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO BE AN ON-SITE ALTERNATE.

ALTERNATES
Beginning on Thursday at midnight, we will begin to contact EACH ALTERNATE PRIOR to placing them in the draw. We will give you REASONABLE TIME (Maximum of one hour) to contact us back and then we will go to the next alternate on the list to fill the available position. PLEASE NOTE: If a seeded player withdraws after the draw is posted, then the new seeded players will move to their respective positions, this means that your match time and/or opponent may change if there is a change to the draw on Friday. We will make every effort to notify ALL affected players of any changes to the draw on Friday due to withdrawals, but ultimately it is the PLAYER'S responsiblity to be aware of any changes to the draw.

ALTERNATES LIST
The Alternate's List will be updated once a day by 9pm each day. Please check the website to check your place on the Alternate's List.

PLAYER SELECTIONS AND ORDERED ALTERNATES
Player Selections and the Ordered Alternates have been posted to the tournament website.Players will be placed into RED and WHITE DRAWS and SEEDS will be posted on Wednesday, September 7th. Draws will be posted on Friday, November 9th.

LATE ENTRIES
We will accept late entries, but there are several divisions with a large number of alternates. All late entries will be placed at the bottom of the Alternate's List (if they do not affect seeding, in which they will not be added to the Alternate's List)

DRAWS
Draws will be posted online FridayNovember 9th. ALL PLAYERS MUST CHECK-IN AT JEFF ADAMS TENNIS CENTER prior to going to your site for your first match. Even if we have rain delays, you must check-in at Jeff Adams Tennis Center prior to your first match.

WATERFALL SYSTEM FOR SPLITTING COMPETITORS
The players will be ordered using current standings, with players from the younger age group that met the seeding requirements included in the player list. The 32 players will be split as follows:
Red: 1,4,5, 8,9,12,13,16,17,20,21,24,25,28,29,32
White: 2,3, 6,7,10,11,14,15,18,19,22,23,26,27,30,31
Seeding will be made after the player have been split. Players from the lower age group that were selected and meet the seeding criteria will be seeded according to the STA directions.

EXTRA DRAWS
There will be Extra Draws for players who lose in first round of the consolation. Players will play at least one more round (minimum of three matches) unless there is a bye.

PLAY FORMAT & SCORING
32 players will be selected for each event (see Selection Process headline) and then be split into two Draws of 16 players using the Waterfall System for selection (see Waterfall Headline), with a Full Feed In Consolation through the Quarters and 3/4 playoff. The Feed-In Consolation will play through the Semifinals. The best two out of three sets with a 10 point match tiebreak in lieu of a third set will be played for all Boys and Girls 12s - 18s.

It is the responsibility of the players to verify their match time as match times and locations are subject to change. Please check the draws again on Friday evening to insure that you arrive on time for your first match on Saturday.

SELECTION PROCESS
Because this is a Level 3 STA Event the following Selection Process is being used: Top 32 players applying from the USTA Southern latest standings list. For Boys and Girls 12s-18s: 28 players from this age group will be selected and up to 4 players from the younger age group who are eligible from the younger age group, who have a standing in the top 40 of the younger age group, and are not in the selected 28, will be selected. (The names of the player who have been selected will appear as competitors. Alternates will be listed in the report section.)

NEW STA LEVEL 3 TOURNAMENT FORMAT
As of January, 2012 all USTA Southern Junior Level 3 tournaments will be following the following format unless specifically state on their tournament web site. Highlights of the New Format are as follows: ALL LEVEL 3 TOURNAMENTS WILL BE HELD OVER A TWO DAY PERIOD (SATURDAY AND SUNDAY) UNLESS APPROVED BY THE STA.
1. All tournaments shall have two 16 balanced draws in each age division.
2. Two 16 draws will be determined by use of the waterfall system.
3. Format: Will be a feed in with an independent draw for the losers of the first feed in match. This will guarantee three matches.
4. If number of participants goes under 24 (23 and under), one draw will be used instead.
5. Format will remain the same for all Level 3 events. The only change will be for an Indoor event which will be able to add one day.
6. Seeding shall follow the USTA Southern Section seeding regulations. Players selected on their 10’s standing shall not be considered for seeding in the 12’s division.
7. Scoring: Tie Break in lieu of the third set shall be used in all matches. Short scoring: No ad scoring or “Short” sets, first player/team to win four games wins the set provided there is a two game margin over the opponent(s), may be used due to inclement weather. Before changing format due to inclement weather, this must be approved by Section and State.
8. 10's will play on 60ft court using Orange Low Compression balls and 25" racquets
9. NEW LEVEL 3 POINTS TABLE: More points for Level 3 tournaments.

TOURNAMENT HEADQUARTERS & AUXILIARY SITES
The Jeff Adams Tennis Center (1200 W. Tyvola Road, Charlotte, NC 28217) is the tournament headquarters site. Directions to Jeff Adams and auxiliary sites are provided below. Also included is the age group that will primarily be playing at each site. However, in some cases overflow matches may be played at another site.

WITHDRAWALS
Withdrawals prior to the entry deadline is the player's responsibility using TennisLink online. Anyone who withdraws after the close of registration should email tournaments@charlottetennisassociation.com stating name, division, USTA number, and reason for withdrawal.

MEDICAL RELEASE FORM
USTA requires a medical release SIGNED BY THE PARENT OR GUARDIAN for every player prior to their first match. Please download, complete, and bring signed form to expedite player check-in. No player will be allowed on court without this form. Click on 'more info' to access a copy of this form.

BOYS AND GIRLS 10s FORMAT & SCORING
For Boys and Girls 10s, the required scoring format for singles shall be the best of three short sets (first to four and win by two), with a set tiebreak (first to seven (7) and win by two) at 4-4 in each set, and a set tiebreak (first to seven (7) and win by two) for the third. Play will be on a 60' court with orange low compression balls. Players must use 25" or smaller junior racquets.

3 MINUTE REST PERIOD
The 3 minute rest period is taken with a match tie break in lieu of the third set format. The 3 minute rest period begins at the end of the second set and should be timed by the official. Players must remain on court or in an area adjacent to the court where coaching is permitted. A toilet break/change of attire may be taken at the conclusion of the 3 minute rest period. A player choosing to take a toilet/change of attire break during the 3 minute rest period waives the right to further coaching. A player who is not ready to play or returns late after a 3 minute rest break would receive a time violation. Should yet an additional 20 seconds pass without the player being ready, a code violation for delay of game would be issued.

AWARDS
Awards will be presented to the winner, finalist, third place, fourth place in all events. Consolation winners and finalists will receive commendation certificates.

SPORTSMANSHIP AWARD
Each year the CTA selects a boy and girl from this tournament who exemplifies the qualities of a true sportsman and competitor.

STRINGER
A stringer will be available at Jeff Adams Tennis Center. Schedule and fees to be announced.

TRAINER
There will be a trainer available at the Jeff Adams Tennis Center beginning Saturday morning through the completion of matches on Sunday.

The Charlotte Tennis Association is proud to have Head/Penn be the official provider of tennis balls for the tournament.

PRACTICE COURTS
There will be practice courts available at Carmel Rd. Park and Freedom Park nearby. There will not be any available courts for practice at the 4 main sites during match play. Directions to Carmel Rd. Park are located on the player info sheet. Freedom Park is located at 1900 East Blvd. Charlotte, NC.

GUIDELINES FOR ENTRY
Players are allowed to enter two age divisions in Southern L3 tournaments, within these guidelines: #1. Players selected to both age divisions they apply for will automatically be selected in the older age division. They would be removed from the other age division. #2. Players not selected to either division would remain on the alternates lists for both divisions but would be obligated to play the division they first get in from the alternates list. They would be removed from the Alternates list in the other division. #3. Players selected to one age division would be removed from the alternates list of the division they were not selected. #4. Once a player is selected for any one division no changes can be made

ENTRY VIOLATIONS
Entering two tournaments at the same time is a violation of the USTA rules in the USTA Southern Section, and players may be assessed five (5) junior suspension points for violation of this rule. In "Friend at Court," USTA Tournament Regulation 1 N. 11 & 12 states: 11. "A player shall not enter two tournaments at the same time. When entries close, a player shall not be entered in two or more sanctioned tournaments, if any part of the tournaments are scheduled to overlap unless each Tournament Committee involved understands the situation and concurs in writing." 12. "A player shall not enter a tournament intending to withdraw if the player’s entry is accepted in another tournament. A player shall not enter a tournament with the intention of withdrawing if the player’s entry is accepted in another tournament, unless the Tournament Committee for the tournament in which the player has entered understands the situation and concurs with the contemplated action." If a player on the Alternate list wants to enter a different tournament, he/she must withdraw from this tournament before entering another one.

Players are selected manually by the tournament director after the close of registration.
Entry to this tournament is restricted. Please consult your Section or District rules and regulations for entry requirements for this tournament. If you enter this tournament and are not eligible, any refund is as the discretion of the Tournament Director. Only USTA members can register online if available.
