ATTENTION SPECTATORS
Be advised that we will have a ZERO tolerance policy for abusive or unsportsmanlike behavior from spectators or parents. Parents will have been advised of the required behavior by signing the “Tennis Parent” statement which is required before a player can begin play. This signature may be considered the initial request to desist improper behavior, therefore, any official may at any time request an offending individual (or individuals) to immediately leave the tournament area.

Tournament Check-In
Players are to check in for the tournament as well as matches at their designated site. ALL 12s divisions will play at Weddington Swim and Racquet Club (WSRC on the draws). All other divisions will play at Olde Providence Racquet Club (OPC and OPH on the draws).

MINIMUM THREE MATCHES
ALL players will have a minimum of THREE MATCHES. Do not leave the site until you have your third match time. Your name may have to be manually entered in another draw.

DIRECTIONS to OPRC
OPC and OPH on the draws is Olde Providence Racquet Club at 5630 Sharon View Road, Charlotte, NC 28226. Look for the OPRC monument on the south side of Sharon View Road between Coley View and Bentridge Drive.

DIRECTIONS to Weddington Swim and Racquet
WSRC on the draw is Weddington Swim and Racquet Club, 4315 Matthews-Weddington Road, Weddington, N.C. 28104. Tournament registration and match check-ins will be at the gazebo between banks of courts. DIRECTIONS - From I-485, take exit # 57 to Providence Road west (NC 16) towards Charlotte. Go about 0.3 mile and turn right onto McKee Road. Go about ½ mile and turn right onto Tilley Morris Road. Stay on Tilley Morris for 1.7 miles. Turn right onto Matthews-Weddington Road. WSRC is about 0.3 mile and on the left. [From Olde Providence Racquet Club, turn right onto Sharon View Road and go 0.3 mile. Turn right onto Old Providence Road and go 0.9 mile. Turn left onto Rea Road and go about 175 yards. Turn right onto Providence Road. Go 3.8 miles and turn left onto McKee Road. Go about ½ mile and turn right onto Tilley Morris Road. Stay on Tilley Morris for 1.7 miles. Turn right onto Matthews-Weddington Road. WSRC is about 0.3 mile and on the left.]

Practice Courts
Due to the size of this tournament, there will be no proctice courts available at the sites. Players MAY NOT warm up on any clay court being used for the tournament, even early in the morning.

Medical Release Form
USTA requires a medical release SIGNED BY THE PARENT OR GUARDIAN for every player prior to their first match. Please download, complete, and bring signed form to expedite player check-in. No player will be allowed on court without this form. Click on 'more info' to access a copy of this form.

We are making plans for the Tennis Tournament at Olde Providence Racquet Club. A block of suites has been reserved at our hotel beginning 7/29/2012. A 15.25% tax is applicable.

Selection Process
Draws will be limited to 32. The top 32 players applying will be selected by the USTA Southern Section office, from the latest USTA Southern standing list -- 28 players from the age group will be selected and up to 4 players from the younger age group that have a top 40 standing and are not in the selected 28.

Players are selected manually by the tournament director after the close of registration.

Entry Type
Entry to this tournament is restricted. Please consult your Section or District rules and regulations for entry requirements for this tournament. If you enter this tournament and are not eligible, any refund is as the discretion of the Tournament Director. Only USTA members can register online if available.

Guidelines for Entry
Players are allowed to enter two age divisions in Southern L3 tournaments, within these guidelines: #1. Players selected to both age divisions they apply for will automatically be selected in the older age division. They would be removed from the other age division. #2. Players not selected to either division would remain on the alternates lists for both divisions but would be obligated to play the division they first get in from the alternates list. They would be removed from the Alternates list in the other division. #3. Players selected to one age division would be removed from the alternates list of the division they were not selected. #4. Once a player is selected for any one division no changes can be made

Signing up for two events

WATERFALL SYSTEM for Splitting Competitors
The players will be ordered using current standings and players from the younger age group that met the seeding requirements put in their place. The 32 players will be split as follows: Red 1,4,5, 8,9,12,13,16,17,20,21,24,25,28,29,32 Blue 2,3, 6,7,10,11,14,15,18,19,22,23,26,27,30,31

New Rule
1. Juniors receive a mandatory 3-minute rest period after the second set when a match-tiebreak is played in lieu of the third set. The player must stay on the court and coaching is permitted. 2. Juniors in all age divisions, including boy's and girl's 18s, receive a mandatory 10-minute rest period after the second set in a best of 3 set match. As usual, coaching is permitted. 3. Line calls changed from "out" to "in" no longer result in a let. The player who made the incorrect call now loses the point regardless of their subsequent shot.

Format and Scoring
32 players will be selected for each event (see Selection Process headline) and then be split into two Draws of 16 players using the Waterfall System for selection (see Waterfall Headline), with a Full Feed In Consolation through the Quarters and 3/4 playoff. The Feed-In Consolation will play through the Semifinals. The best two out of three sets with a 10 point match tiebreak in lieu of a third set will be played for all Boys and Girls 12s - 18s.

NEW 2012: Guidelines-Format
As of Jan. 2012 all USTA Southern Junior Level 3 tournaments will be following the following format unless specifically state on their tournament web site. Highlights of the New Format are as follows: ALL LEVEL 3 TOURNAMENTS WILL BE HELD OVER A TWO DAY PERIOD. 1. All tournaments shall have two 16 balanced draws in each age division. 2. Two 16 draws will be determined by use of the waterfall system. 3. Format: Will be a feed in with an independent draw for the losers of the first feed in match. This will guarantee three matches. 4. If number of participants goes under 24 (23 and under), one draw will be used instead. 5. Format will remain the same for all Level 3 events. The only change will be for an Indoor event which will be able to add one day. 6. Seeding shall follow the USTA Southern Section seeding regulations. Players selected on their 10’s standing shall not be considered for seeding in the 12’s division. 7. Scoring: Tie Break in lieu of the third set shall be used in all matches. Short scoring: No ad scoring or “Short” sets, first player/team to win four games wins the set provided there is a two game margin over the opponent(s), may be used due to inclement weather. Before changing format due to inclement weather, this must be approved by Section and State. 8. 10's will play on 60ft court using Orange Low Compression balls and 25" racquets Scoring: TBD 8's will play on 36ft court using Red Low Compression balls and 23" racquets 9. NEW LEVEL 3 POINTS TABLE: More points for Level 3 tournaments. 10. With the smaller draws, more players will receive more points.

Recovery Rule
Extended length of rest between singles matches in Junior, Adult, Senior, NTRP and Wheelchair Divisions. In all singles matches in Junior, Adult, Senior, NTRP, and Wheelchair Divisions in which the match format is two out of three standard tiebreak sets or more, a rest period of two hours shall be offered by the Referee before the player’s next singles match. This Rule does not apply to short set matches and matches that play a tiebreak in lieu of a final third set, nor to any match played indoors where the duration of the match is less than 120 minutes.
