Seeding Process
The process is as follows: 1) Southern provides the latest selection list with the top 32 applicants in rank order. 2) This applicant list of 32 players is then waterfalled. 3) Each group of 16 players is then seeded. Players in Lower Standing are taken into consideration based on the seeding calculator.

Player Registration
All Players must register at North Hills Club prior to their first match. We will have Player Registration on Friday, April 6th from 4:30-7pm. If you can not come on Friday please check in at NHC one hour before your match time on Sautrday if you are traveling to another site or 30 minutes prior if you are playing at NHC. Please bring your signed medical release form.

Directions to North Hills Club (NHCC) and (NHCH)
919-781-0468 (4824 Yadkin Dr.)Located in North Raleigh. From airport take 540 to Six Forks Rd South. Go about 5-6 miles then take a right onto Northbrook. Then take a right onto Yadkin, the club will be at the top of the hill on the right. From 440, take Six Forks Rd North about 1 mile, take left onto Northbrook then a right onto Yadkin. The club will on your right at the top of the hill.

Sanderson Highschool/Optimist Park (OPT)
Sanderson High School (5500 Dixon Dr. Raleigh, 27609) North Raleigh: From 440 take Six Forks Exit. Go 2 miles and take a left on Millbrook heading towards Shelly Lake. After 3/4 mile take a right on Dixon Dr. (At flashing light). Then turn right into Sanderson High School and go to the end of the big parking lot located behind the school. Courts are located at the end of the parking lot.

(1800 Watkins Street Raleigh 27604)From 440, take Capital Blvd Exit. Merge right onto Capital Blvd. (401 South) towards downtown.Take a left onto Fenton St. Then turn right onto Watkins St. (From NHC) Turn left onto Northbrook and then a right onto Six Forks. Merge left onto 440 E/US 1 N. Then follow the above directions from 440.

(198 Chowan Circle 27609) Directions from North Hills Club. Take a left onto Yadkin Dr. Pass thru Northbrook Dr. Take right at next stop sign onto Currituck. Follow brown signs to North Hills Park.

Court Surfaces
The Boy's and Girl's 10's, 16's and 18's will play on hard courts. The boy's and girl's 12's and 14's will play on clay courts.

Medical Release
USTA requires a medical release SIGNED BY THE PARENT OR GUARDIAN for every player prior to their first match. Please download, complete, and bring signed form to expedite player check-in. If your guests prefer to make their reservations by telephone, they can call our reservations department at 1 800 321 2211 and ask for the North Hills Club Junior Tournament Room Block at the Courtyard Raleigh Midtown. As a reminder, the cut off date for your reservations is March 16, 2012. The rooms are available until 5:00pm on this date. After 5:00pm, any unreserved rooms will be released back into general inventory.

New Rules
1. Juniors receive a mandatory 3-minute rest period after the second set when a match-tiebreak is played in lieu of the third set. The player must stay on the court and coaching is permitted. 2. Juniors in all age divisions, including boy's and girl's 18s, receive a mandatory 10-minute rest period after the second set in a best of 3 set match. As usual, coaching is permitted. 3. Line calls changed from "out" to "in" no longer result in a let. The player who made the incorrect call now loses the point regardless of their subsequent shot.

Format and Scoring
32 players will be selected for each event (see Selection Process headline) and then be split into two Draws of 16 players using the Waterfall System for selection (see Waterfall Headline), with a Full Feed In Consolation through the Quarters and 3/4 playoff. The Feed-In Consolation will play through the Semifinals. The best two out of three sets with a 10 point match tiebreak in lieu of a third set will be played for all Boys and Girls 12s - 18s.

Boy's and Girl's 10 & Under
Boys and Girls 10 and Under will use the QuickStart format with court size of 60 feet and orange low compression balls. Players must use 23" or 25" junior racquets. Kids play best of 3 sets with the first to win 4 games wins the set. Play a set tiebreaker at 4-4. If players split sets, a 7 point tiebreak is played for the third set. AD SCORING!

NEW 2012: Guidelines-Format
As of Jan. 2012 all USTA Southern Junior Level 3 tournaments will be following the following format unless specifically state on their tournament web site. Highlights of the New Format are as follows: ALL LEVEL 3 TOURNAMENTS WILL BE HELD OVER A TWO DAY PERIOD (SATURDAY AND SUNDAY) UNLESS APPROVED BY THE STA. 1. All tournaments shall have two 16 balanced draws in each age division. 2. Two 16 draws will be determined by use of the waterfall system. 3. Format: Will be a feed in with an independent draw for the losers of the first feed in match. This will guarantee three matches. 4. If number of participants goes under 24 (23 and under), one draw will be used instead. 5. Format will remain the same for all Level 3 events. The only change will be for an Indoor event which will be able to add one day. 6. Seeding shall follow the USTA Southern Section seeding regulations. Players selected on their 10’s standing shall not be considered for seeding in the 12’s division. 7. Scoring: Tie Break in lieu of the third set shall be used in all matches. Short scoring: No ad scoring or “Short” sets, first player/team to win four games wins the set provided there is a two game margin over the opponent(s), may be used due to inclement weather. Before changing format due to inclement weather, this must be approved by Section and State. 8. 10's will play on 60ft court using Orange Low Compression balls and 25" racquets Scoring: TBD 8's will play on 36ft court using Red Low Compression balls and 23" racquets 9. NEW LEVEL 3 POINTS TABLE: More points for Level 3 tournaments. 10. With the smaller draws, more players will receive more points.

WATERFALL SYSTEM for Splitting Competitors
The players will be ordered using current standings and players from the younger age group that met the seeding requirements put in their place. The 32 players will be split as follows: Red 1,4,5, 8,9,12,13,16,17,20,21,24,25,28,29,32 Blue 2,3, 6,7,10,11,14,15,18,19,22,23,26,27,30,31

Guidelines for Entry
Players are allowed to enter two age divisions in Southern L3 tournaments, within these guidelines: #1. Players selected to both age divisions they apply for will automatically be selected in the older age division. They would be removed from the other age division. #2. Players not selected to either division would remain on the alternates lists for both divisions but would be obligated to play the division they first get in from the alternates list. They would be removed from the Alternates list in the other division. #3. Players selected to one age division would be removed from the alternates list of the division they were not selected. #4. Once a player is selected for any one division no changes can be made

Selection Process
Draws will be limited to 32. The top 32 players applying will be selected by the USTA Southern Section office, from the latest USTA Southern standing list -- 28 players from the age group will be selected and up to 4 players from the younger age group that have a top 40 standing and are not in the selected 28.

Players are selected manually by the tournament director after the close of registration.
Entry to this tournament is restricted. Please consult your Section or District rules and regulations for entry requirements for this tournament. If you enter this tournament and are not eligible, any refund is as the discretion of the Tournament Director. Only USTA members can register online if available.
