ZAT TOURNAMENTS
This is a tournament for ZAT players only. ZATs are for junior players who are trying to qualify for a Texas ranking and have not yet achieved Champs status. The event will award points for each round won. The winners of each division automatically qualify for Champs level play and may enter that level in the following month. Please note that there are no refunds for withdrawals after the entry deadline.
|
TOURNAMENT FORMAT
The match format for the ZAT is as follows: B/G 10's play just one day (Saturday). The match format is two of three short sets,(first to 4 games), with a 7 point tiebreaker if players split sets. Players can play up to 4 matches in one day.
All other divisions play 2 sets and a match tiebreaker to decide the third, No-Ad Scoring. A 7 point set tiebreaker is played when games are 6-6 in a set. A 10 point tiebreaker is played if players split sets. Players may play up to three matches in one day.
No Ad Scoring is used. Players play a sudden death point at 3-3, with the returner choosing the side of the serve for this point.

MULTIPLE SITES
This tournament will be played at multiple sites. A list of the sites with directions will be published with the draws. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU KNOW WHERE YOU ARE GOING BEFORE YOU COME. There are no adjustments for being late because you got lost. There are no telephones at most of the remote sites, so you need directions BEFORE YOU leave for the tournament.
|
DRAWS AND SEEDING
The draws are randomly drawn by computer. The seeds are placed in each draw using the wave method, which places seeds in order for each draw. The remaining players are randomly assigned to a draw. The colors do not mean anything, they are just there to tell the draws apart from one another. Each draw in an event is considered equal in strength to the other draws. There is no seeding in either 10U Orange or 10U Green. The byes are randomly selected.
