IMPORTANT TOURNAMENT CHECK-IN
Players will be able to check in Friday afternoon from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Topspin Racquet and Swim Club. This is an optional check in. This will allow you to go straight to your playing site Saturday morning. Every player has to check in at Topspin before their first match. This can be done Friday or before their first match on Saturday. If you are playing at the Cayce Tennis Center you can also check in there instead of Topspin Saturday morning. Please check in at Topspin at least 45 mins before your first match of the tournament if you decide not to check in on Friday and you are playing at other facilities other than Cayce Tennis Center. SITES AND SURFACES
Due to a site conflict we have had to change the sites and surfaces of play. The sites and surfaces are as follows: Boys 16's and 18's and Girls 16's Topspin Clay, Consolation Boys 18's 16's and Girls 16's Topspin Clay/Rawls Creek Clay, Boys 14's and 12's and Girls 14's Cayce Tennis Center Hard Courts, Girls 18's Lexington high school hard courts, Girls 12's Irmo High School Hard Courts The Boys and Girls 10's are to be determined. Please be aware of the "EXTRA DRAWS" which mean that there is an extra match for players coming out of the consolation. Please check with your site refs after everyone of your matches.

DRAWS WATERFALL SYSTEM
The players will be ordered using current standings and players from the younger age group that met the seeding requirements put in their place. The 32 players will be split as follows: Red 1,4,5, 8,9,12,13,16,17,20,21,24,25,28,29,32 Blue 2,3, 6,7,10,11,14,15,18,19,22,23,26,27,30,31

TOURNAMENT CHECK-IN
All participants must check in at Topspin at least 45 minutes prior to their FIRST match. Check in at least 30 minutes prior for all other matches.

SCORING
All main draw matches and consolation matches for 12s, 14s, 16s, and 18s will play a 3rd set match tie break in lieu of the 3rd set.
|
|
3 MINUTE COACHING BREAK
When playing a best of 3 sets match with a match tie-break in lieu of the 3rd set, players who split sets are entitled to a 3 minute coaching break. Coaching must occur on court or at the fence line of the court. Cell phones may be used during the break. Bathroom break can be requested AFTER the coaching break-if player elects to use the restroom during the break, he/she forfeits the coaching opportunity

BOY'S AND GIRLS 10'S FORMAT
Boy's and Girl's 10s will be played based on 10-under tennis format.

NEW STA L3 FORMAT
As of Jan. 2012 all USTA Southern Junior Level 3 tournaments will be following the following format unless specifically state on their tournament web site. Highlights of the New Format are as follows: ALL LEVEL 3 TOURNAMENTS WILL BE HELD OVER A TWO DAY PERIOD (SATURDAY AND SUNDAY) UNLESS APPROVED BY THE STA. 1. All tournaments shall have two 16 balanced draws in each age division. 2. Two 16 draws will be determined by use of the waterfall system. 3. Format: Will be a feed in with an independent draw for the losers of the first feed in match. This will guarantee three matches. 4. If number of participants goes under 24 (23 and under), one draw will be used instead. 5. Format will remain the same for all Level 3 events. The only change will be for an Indoor event which will be able to add one day. 6. Seeding shall follow the USTA Southern Section seeding regulations. Players selected on their 10’s standing shall not be considered for seeding in the 12’s division. 7. Scoring: Tie Break in lieu of the third set shall be used in all matches. Short scoring: No ad scoring or “Short” sets, first player/team to win four games wins the set provided there is a two game margin over the opponent(s), may be used due to inclement weather. Before changing format due to inclement weather, this must be approved by Section and State. 8. 10's will play on 60ft court using Orange Low Compression balls and 25" racquets Scoring: TBD 8's will play on 36ft court using Red Low Compression balls and 23" racquets 9. NEW LEVEL 3 POINTS TABLE: More points for Level 3 tournaments. 10. With the smaller draws, more players will receive more points.

SELECTION PROCESS
Because this is a Level 3 STA Event the following Selection Process is being used: Top 32 players applying from the USTA/Southern latest standings list. For Boys and Girls 12-18: 28 players from this age group will be selected and up to 4 players from the younger age group who are eligible from the younger age group, who have a standing in the top 40 of the younger age group, and are not in the selected 28, will be selected. The names of the player who have been selected will appear as competitors. Aternates are listed in the report section. Do not refer to the alternates on the far left side of the web page after competitors have been listed. (That list is not updated). Players are allowed to enter two divisions with these guidelines: #1. Players selected to both age divisions they apply for will automatically be selected to the older age division.They are removed from the other age division. #2. Players not selected to either divisions would remain on the alternates' lists for both divisions but would be obligated to play the division they first get in from the alternates' list. They would be removed from the alternate list in the other division. #3. Players selected to one age division woud be removed from the alternates' list of the division they were not selected. #4. Once a player is selected for any one division no changes can be made.

10 AND UNDER SCORING/EQUIPMENT
The scoring format is as follows: best of 3 short sets to 4 games (win by 2), 7 point tie-break at 4-4 7 point tie-break (win by 2) in lieu of third set. 10 and Under tennis requires racquets no longer than 25"

ALTERNATES
It is the alternate's responsibility to check the website to see if your alternate status has changed. The tournament will contact you if you are selected to play in the tournament. You should make sure your contact information is correct on your membership profile. The tournament will not be responsible for a player not selected in the event the tournament cannot contact him/her due to incorrect or outdated contact information. Once an alternate is selected for play, payment is due immediately. Alternate report will be updated daily! On Site-Alternates must inform the Referee in person they are on-site. On-Site Alternates will be selected in the order of the Alternates List. On Site-Alternates should be on-site when their division checks in for play.

MEDICAL RELEASE
MEDICAL RELEASES are REQUIRED prior to playing any matches. Parent or guardian MUST SIGN. Please look under the TOURNAMENT REPORTS section to download this form and bring it with you to registration. You may also fax this completed form to 803-951-8852

WITHDRAW AFTER ENTRIES CLOSED
If you need to withdraw from the tournament please email your request to topspinrsc@aol.com. This email must have a request to be withdrawn, reason why, players name, USTA #, and contact information. No phone calls please, we need written proof of your withdrawal. Thank you. Players withdrawing on or after Sunday March 13,2010 will not be refunded the entry fee.

Lateness will not be tolerated DEFAULTS WILL BE ENFORCED 15min AFTER YOUR SCHEDULED MATCH TIME UNLESS YOU HAVE BEEN GIVEN REST TIME BECAUSE OF YOUR PREVIOUS MATCH. INCLEMENT WEATHER
In the event of inclement weather, alternate scoring maybe used at the discretion of the referee. We will still try to play as many matches as possible.

STRINGING
Topspin will offer stringing service during the tournament with quick turn-around time. We have some Prince, Wilson, Babolat, and Gamma strings in stock and we will string your racquet if you bring your own string. Please see Pro Shop for details.

HOSPITALITY
There will be bagels, orange juice, fruit, PB and Js station, and lemonade for the tournament participants at Topspin Racquet and Swim Club. Powerade and sodas will be available for purchase in the Pro Shop. In addition, we will have a Hot-dog station at Topspin for players and parents to make their own snacks from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM Saturday and Sunday.

Topspin Racquet and Swim Club is conveniently located on Highway 378 in Lexington, SC. Take exit #61 off of I-20 and travel four miles towards Lexington and Topspin is on your left. From I-26 take exit #110 towards Lexington and travel 6 miles Topspin is on your left.

Take exit #116 to I-77 North towards Charlotte. Take Exit #2 on I-77 and turn left towards West Columbia. Turn right at first light and then turn right into tennis center.

Continue straight on SC 60 until you reach the stop light at St. Andrews Road.
Turn right onto St. Andrews Road and follow this road until you see Irmo High School on your right.

Turn right onto first driveway beyond the football field.

WITHDRAW BEFORE ENTRIES CLOSE
If you need to withdraw before entries close, you must do so online with your confirmation number you get when you registered for the tournament. Click on edit registration, and then withdraw. You will get a confirmation number- KEEP THIS NUMBER! Without the confirmation number, you will not have proof of your withdrawal.

PLAYING TWO TOURNAMENTS
DO NOT ENTER TWO TOURNAMENTS AT THE SAME TIME. How to avoid penalties: If you end up in the alternates list, you must withdraw from the alternate list first and then enter the 2nd event. Tournaments have different deadlines that will allow you time to make your changes.

Players are selected manually by the tournament director after the close of registration.
