The drawing for the trip to the Western and Southern Open professional tournament in Cincinnati was held this afternoon. The winner is the McCullough family of Spartanburg, SC. The two boys are Zachary and Charlie. Oddly enough, the McCullough's only had one entry in the drawing, as they forgot to enter for Charlie (It was Zach's entry that was drawn). Congratulations to the McCulloughs and many thanks to Western and Southern Life for making this happen!

The Western and Southern Life SC Open Junior Championship Sportsmanship award winners were David Reed of Easley, SC (Boys 18) and Harriett Hall of Clover, SC (Girls 14). They were presented with awards provided by the USTA SC. Congratulations!

Due to the rain over the past couple of days and the daily limitations for the number of matches that a participant can play, we are forced to cancel ALL DOUBLES EVENTS. With several of the players having the potential of 3 matches tomorrow, singles events may run into Monday. This would mean that doubles would not have started until those singles matches were completed on Monday. Because it is not fair that we offer doubles in just some of the divisions, we feel that it is only right to cancel all doubles events.

Please check the draws for your start times. 10s and 18s should report to Pebble Creek. The 16s should report directly to Wade Hampton. There are several of the 16s t-shirt bags here at Pebble Creek. Please stop by and pick them up after your first match at the Pebble Creek Tennis Pro Shop. 12s and 14s times have also been updated and will report directly to Furman. Thank you!

First match times have been posted. Please pay attention to the sight for which you have been assigned to play your match!!! All Friday matches may go straight to the assigned site. You do not have to check in at Pebble Creek first!!!! Those playing at Wade Hampton High School may check in at Pebble Creek after your match to get your t-shirts. All 12's & 14's will only need to check in at Furman University to receive your tournament t-shirt.

Boys & Girls 18's divisions will be played on clay courts. All other divisions will be played on hard courts.

All singles draws will have a modified feed-in consolation. Every player must report their scores to the tournament desk win or lose to see when you will play again. All doubles draws will be single elimination.

Please check in for your first match 30 min. early. After that you may check in 15 min. early for your matches.

There will be no refunds given to those that withdraw from the tournament after the draws have been made.

Each tournament participant will have the chance to enter for a VIP prize package for a family of 4 to the Western and Southern Life Pro tournament in Cincinnatti! Some lucky participant of this junior tournament will win this prize! This is not part of a larger National drawing. We will have more details on the trip, and how you can enter, at the Western and Southern Life tables at our tournament.

10s Singles: will be the best of 2 four game sets with a 7 point tiebreak being played at 4-4. We will use regular (ad) scoring. If the players split sets they will play a 7 point tiebreak to determine the match. All other age division Singles: The best of 2 six game sets with a 7 point tiebreak being played at 6-6. We will use regular (ad) scoring. If the players split sets they will play a 10 point match tiebreak to determine the winner. 10s Doubles: will play a 6 game pro set with a tiebreak being played at 6-6. Regular (ad) scoring. All other Doubles divisions: will play an 8 game pro set with a 7 point tiebreak being played at 8-8. Regular (ad) scoring. THE TOURNAMENT COMMITTEE RESERVES THE RIGHT TO ALTER THE SCORING FORMAT IF WE SHOULD HAVE INCLEMENT WEATHER.

We are pleased to announce that the 12s and 14s divisions will be played on the newly resurfaced Furman University courts. All participants in these age groups will check in at Furman. If you are signing up for doubles, you may only play in these two divisions (those playing singles in the 12s or 14s may not play up in the 16s or 18s). NOTE: The closest host hotel for this site is the Hampton Inn - Travelers Rest. (please see the message for Hotels for more information.

The 10 and under division will play on Saturday. Please check for your first match start time once they have been posted. We will attempt to complete this age group on Saturday (weather permitting).

This year we will be using two "Host Hotels". The Marroitt Greenville located at I-85 and Pelham Road (for the 10s, 16s, & 18s), and the Hampton Inn of Travelers Rest located at 593 Roe Center Court in Travelers Rest (very close to Furman, for the 12s & 14s). Both hotels are offering a rate of $89/night, but you must make your reservation no later than Tuesday March 27, 2012 to get this rate. To make reservations please call the hotel directly. This tournament will make every effort to finish by Sunday evening. However, if we should have inclement weather or large draws, we will play on Monday. Because of offering both singles and doubles in a long weekend tournament, we may also run into daily match allowance situations that would force us to finish up on Monday.
