ON SITE ALTERNATES
"On Site" Alternates must register at the main site tournament desk. BG10-12s go to Charleston Tennis Center and BG14-18s go to RBTC. You can inform the Tournament Referee on Friday night or before that you plan to be an On-Site Alternate. Please make sure we have accurate contact information for you to be reached during the weekend. On-Site Alternates will be selected in the order of the Alternates List. On Site Alternates should be on-site when their age and gender check in for play in the first round.

in all age groups except Girl's 18's. Please make sure you are on time for your matches!

SITES: 14's -18's
We are using four sites for the 14's -18's during the tournament. It is your responsibility to be on time for your matches. Directions to all sites will be provided at the Roy Barth Tennis Center. You can go straight to your first match site if you bring your MEDICAL RELEASE to that site. You may also fax the medical release to (843)768-6092. Please come to RBTC to register either Friday 2pm - 7pm or Saturday 6:30am - 5pm. The four match sites are:

The 10's and 12's Age divisions will be played at THE CHARLESTON TENNIS CENTER in Charleston on HARD COURTS. 19 Farmfield Ave, Charleston, SC 29407. REGISTRATION/CHECK IN
14s - 18s Age Divisions: Registration Check in will be open on Friday from Noon until 7 PM at the MAIN SITE, The Roy Barth Tennis Center (RBTC) located at EAST BEACH. Registration will re-open on Saturday morning at 6:30 AM. Players may go directly to their forst match as long as they have their medical release with them. Please bring your medical release form with you for faster processing. All fees must be paid at the Roy Barth tennis Center and emergency contact numbers must be shared. The 10s and 12s can check in on Saturday morning before their first match directly at the Charleston Tennis Center. Registration will open at 7 AM on Saturday.

MEDICAL RELEASE
USTA requires a medical release SIGNED BY THE PARENT OR GUARDIAN for every player. This form must be presented at the time of tournament registration. A link is at the end of this section for your convenience.

WELCOME
This is the 28th annual Kiawah Island Junior Championship co-sponsored by K-Swiss, Pepsi, and The Odle Group. It has grown to be one of the largest tournaments in the South. All participants will be given a tournament t-shirt. Bananas, hot chocolate, coffee, and donuts will be offered daily.

DOUBLES - No PARTNER
DOUBLES FINAL DEADLINE IS MONDAY, OCTOBER 8TH AT NOON. If you have not confirmed a partner by then, we will remove you from the doubles event. If you need help with sharing your contact information for doubles over the weekend, please contact the Referee: MSRabb@aol.com. Email your player name, age division, the best contact phone number where you can be reached and a list of players you want to receive your information. Thank you!

DOUBLES
DOUBLES PLAYERS MUST PLAY IN THE SAME AGE GROUP AS IN SINGLES! NO EXCEPTIONS!--- If you need help finding a doubles partner, please email the Tournament Driector or Referee. We will keep the doubles registration open until MONDAY AT NOON to help players find partners in their age division. Please don't wait, work now to find a partner!!

We will have a consolation for all singles just as all other Southern Level 3's have. See additional information under New STA Level 3 Format below.

VILLA RATES
Special accommodation rates are available in one, two, or three bedroom villas. One bedroom
Villas are $165/night two bedroom villas are $197/night, and three bedroom villas are $215/night. Rates are based on availability and are subject to an 12.5% tax and an 8% service fee.

HOTEL SPONSOR
The Town and Country Inn and Suites located at 2008 Savannah Highway, Charleston 29407. They have just completed a $7,000,000 rebuild of the hotel guestrooms in August 2012.

NEW STA LEVEL 3 FORMAT
As of Jan. 2012 all USTA Southern Junior Level 3 tournaments will be following the following format unless specifically state on their tournament web site. Highlights of the New Format are as follows: ALL LEVEL 3 TOURNAMENTS WILL BE HELD OVER A TWO DAY PERIOD (SATURDAY AND SUNDAY) UNLESS APPROVED BY THE STA. 1. All tournaments shall have two 16 balanced draws in each age division. 2. Two 16 draws will be determined by use of the waterfall system. 3. Format: Will be a feed in with an independent draw for the losers of the first feed in match. This will guarantee three matches. 4. If number of participants goes under 24 (23 and under), one draw will be used instead. 5. Format will remain the same for all Level 3 events. The only change will be for an Indoor event which will be able to add one day. 6. Seeding shall follow the USTA Southern Section seeding regulations. Players selected on their 10’s standing shall not be considered for seeding in the 12’s division. 7. Scoring: Tie Break in lieu of the third set shall be used in all matches. Short scoring: No ad scoring or “Short” sets, first player/team to win four games wins the set provided there is a two game margin over the opponent(s), may be used due to inclement weather. Before changing format due to inclement weather, this must be approved by Section and State. 8. 10's will play on 60ft court using Orange Low Compression balls and 25" racquets 9. NEW LEVEL 3 POINTS TABLE: More points for Level 3 tournaments. 10. With the smaller draws, more players will receive more points.

MATCH PLAY FORMAT (10 and Under Age Division)
The scoring format is as follows: best of 3 short sets to 4 games (win by 2), 7 point tie-break at 4-4, with a 7 point tie-break (win by 2) in lieu of third set. Ad scoring will be used. 10 and Under tennis requires racquets no longer than 25"

MATCH PLAY FORMAT (12s - 18s)
All maindraw matches (12's -18's) will be best 2 out of 3 sets with a match tie break in lieu of a 3rd set. All consolation matches will be best of 3 sets with a match tie break in lieu of a full 3rd set. There will be a playoff for 3rd and 4th place in the main draw. Doubles will use an 8-game pro set.

SELECTION PROCESS
Because this is a Level 3 STA Event the following Selection Process is being used: Top 32 players applying from the USTA/Southern latest standings list. For Boys and Girls 12-18: 28 players from this age group will be selected and up to 4 players from the younger age group who are eligible from the younger age group, who have a standing in the top 40 of the younger age group, and are not in the selected 28, will be selected. The names of the player who have been selected will appear as competitors. Alternates are listed in the report section. Do not refer to the alternates on the far left side of the web page after competitors have been listed. (That list is not updated). Players are allowed to enter two divisions with these guidelines: #1. Players selected to both age divisions they apply for will automatically be selected to the older age division. They are removed from the other age division. #2. Players not selected to either divisions would remain on the alternates' lists for both divisions but would be obligated to play the division they first get in from the alternates' list. They would be removed from the alternate list in the other division. #3. Players selected to one age division would be removed from the alternates' list of the division they were not selected. #4. Once a player is selected for any one division no changes can be made

REGISTERING FOR TWO AGE DIVISIONS
Players are allowed to enter two divisions with these guidelines: (1) Players selected to both age divisions they apply for will automatically be selected to the older age division. They will be removed from the other age division. (2) Players not selected to either division would remain on the alternate’s lists for both divisions but would be obligated to play the division they first get in, from the alt. list. They will be removed from the Alternate list in the other division. (3) Players selected to one age division will be removed from the alternates list of the other division. (4) Once a player is selected for any one division no changes can be made.

ENTERING TWO TOURNAMENTS
Players are cautioned not to enter two tournaments at the same time. Suggestions to avoid being penalized: If you are listed on the Alternate List, you must with-draw from the Alternate List first and then enter the 2nd Tournament. Tournaments have been assigned different deadlines that will allow you time to make your changes. You can receive suspension points for entering two tournaments at the same time.

SEEDING CRITERIA
USTA Southern Level 1, 2 and 3 Tournaments. SINGLES SEEDING CRITERIA Seeding shall be done using only the results from most recently published USTA Southern Combined Standings Lists of the division in the order in which players appear on the list. (Southern Designated Published List at least 8 days prior to tournament start). In addition to the list, other criteria to consider: Players who have a standing in the next younger age division may be seeded in any group of seeds if they are in the top 10 of the most recently published USTA Southern Combined Standings Lists of any younger age division. Players with current top 50 USTA National standing, top 100 ITF ranking, top 1000 ATP or WTA rankings should be considered for seeding.

LATE ENTRIES
Late entries may be accepted or a new player may be substituted into the draw if the Tournament Committee determines that the ability of a new player does not invalidate the seeding. ALTERNATES
The alternates by Event Report will be updated daily. Contact us immediately if you realize that you cannot come. It is the alternate's responsibility to check the website to see if your alternate status has changed. The tournament will make every effort to contact you if your status changes and as a result you are selected to play in the tournament. You should make sure your contact information is correct on your membership profile. The tournament will not be responsible for a player not selected in the event the tournament cannot contact him/her due to incorrect or outdated contact information. Once an alternate is selected for play, payment is due immediately.

WITHDRAWALS
If you need to withdraw before entries close, you must do so online. All withdrawals after entries close and anytime during the tournament, must also be sent in writing by E-Mail to the Tournament Referee (MSRabb@aol.com). If you do not email your withdrawal, you will be listed as a default no show and will receive five suspension points. You must include the reason for the withdrawal, players name, players age division and USTA #. We also would like for you to include phone contact information just in case we need to call you. Please notify us immediately upon your decision to withdraw so another player will have an opportunity to be selected to play. Players withdrawing not more than 6 days before the tournament start date will NOT be refunded the entry fee as regulated by Friend At Court - National USTA Regulations. (No Refunds after Saturday, October 6th ) Thank you! Follow the directions online listed under "Edit Registration" to withdraw before the registration closes.

INCLEMENT WEATHER
In case of Inclement Weather the match play format may change, as approved by USTA SC or USTA Southern.

REGULATIONS
USTA REGULATIONS will be used and the Point Penalty System will be enforced.

EXTRA DRAWS
Players who lost their first round consolation matche will move into the extra draw. Check the draw for times and locations for Sunday match information.
|
Players are selected manually by the tournament director after the close of registration.
Entry to this tournament is restricted. Please consult your Section or District rules and regulations for entry requirements for this tournament. If you enter this tournament and are not eligible, any refund is as the discretion of the Tournament Director. Only USTA members can register online if available.
