USTA Regional Tournament Segment- July (Pelham)

Please continue to check back to see if there are any changes to the draw. Just a few reminders: Doubles sign up is on site only. You have to sign our sheet in order to be included in the doubles draw. The deadline to sign up is Saturday at 10:00 am. Doubles for Boys will start Saturday afternoon (one round) not before 3:00 pm. Doubles for Girls will start Saturday afternoon (one round) not before 3:30 pm. Please check in with the tournament desk 30 minutes before your match time. PRC will be open until 6:00 pm on Friday for registration only. You will not be able to practice on our courts past 5:30 pm.

WITHDRAWING AFTER THE TOURNAMENT DEADLINE There will be no refunds for any players withdrawing after the entry deadline. The reason(s) for withdrawal must be in writing and sent by email to cmills24@msn.com by the last day of the tournament in order to avoid suspension points for withdrawing without a legitimate cause. The Referee of the tournament will determine whether or not withdrawals are legitimate. Medical withdrawals MUST have cause in writing submitted by a Medical Professional.

This Regional event is also the USTA Southern's "Southern Open". Therefore, this event is a Southern Level 1A point event. This "Southern Level" only applies to the Regional events that are our Southern Opens (B&G 12's - Dothan, AL B&G 14's - Pelham, AL B&G 16's Columbus, GA B&G 18's - Birmingham, AL.

All players planning to play doubles must sign up in person at the Pelham Racquet Club during check in on Friday, July 6th or by the deadline which is Saturday, July 7th at 10:30 am. (Even if you signed up online). We will not be using anything for doubles signed up online. So when you look at doubles prior to the tournament, partners will not be reflected. Doubles play will begin Saturday following the singles and the scoring format is an 8 game pro set with a 7 point match tiebreak at 8 games all. The doubles final will be best 2 out of 3 sets.

Mandatory check-in for the tournament will be 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm Friday, July 6th at Pelham Racquet Club. If for some reason you can't, please allow plenty of time before your match time on Saturday to check-in and get your packet of information. Please note that our club hours on Fridays are 8:00am-5:00pm. We will be open until 6:00pm for registration only. You will not be able to practice past 5:30. Please check in 30 minutes at tournament desk prior to each match.

Due to changes in the draw or match times, it is imperative for you to add contact information (email & phone) during the online process when asked. So a player doesn't lose out, please help us by offering this information. If you did not add your contact information during registration, you can email this information to cmills24@msn.com at any time. Please put 'Southern Open 14's' in the subject line.

We have a very strict quarantine on our email and a lot will go to spam. If you do not get a response, please contact us by phone to see if we received your email.

USTA requires a medical release SIGNED BY THE PARENT OR GUARDIAN for every player. This form must be presented at the time of registration. Players are not allowed on the court without this signed release. Please visit the link provided for more information and the medical release form. more info

Lunch will be served Saturday and Sunday upstairs at the Pelham Racquet Club for players. There will be a $5 charge for coaches and parents.

Clay courts will be available to tournament players, Friday, July 6th for practice. Once the tournament starts, there will be 5 hard courts available. As the tournament progresses we should have a few clay courts also available. There will be a sign up sheet for practice times at the tournament desk each day. (Each morning before matches begin at 8:00 am, players will be allowed on the clay courts for warm up.)

There will be an experienced stringer at Pelham Racquet Club during the tournament. Labor charge if you have your own string is $15.

We do have a fully stocked pro shop at Pelham Racquet Club. Anything purchased at PRC is tax free.

Host Hotel is Comfort Suites. 2235 Pelham Parkway, Pelham, AL 35124. 205-982-1999. This is a new hotel and is conveniently located only one exit away (4 miles). The rate is $79 + tax per night. Please use code PRC to get the tournament rate.

Birmingham International Airport DIRECTIONS FROM AIRPORT TO HOST HOTEL: Take ramp (right) onto I-20 (I-59) towards Tuscaloosa/Downtown. At exit 124A take ramp (left) onto I-65 South towards Montgomery. Go 21.4 miles to exit 246 (Hwy 119/Cahaba Valley Road). Turn right and Hotel is along this road. Approx. 25 minutes. DIRECTIONS FROM AIRPORTTO PELHAM RACQUET CLUB: Same as above and continue on I-65 South towards Montgomery to Exit 242 (Pelham/Helena). Turn left onto Highway 52. The club is 1/2 mile on left at the 3rd traffic light. Approx. 30 minutes.
