Tournament Procedures
You are playing “unofficiated” matches and will be playing your match according to THE CODE (pages 45-51 of the Friend At Court-the tennis rule book). When you check-in for your matches you must be ready for play. Fill water coolers, re-grip rackets, use the bathroom, etc. If a court opens up due to a match ending quickly, the tournament desk may put you on early to help the tournament as a whole move along. PLAYERS NEED TO CHECK-IN 30 MINUTES PRIOR TO EACH MATCH TIME. Once checked-in, stay near the tournament desk where you can hear your name being called. Players are responsible for keeping the warm-up time to 5 minutes. Spin your racket BEFORE warming up to determine server and sides. Talking to players on court at any time is not allowed and may result in a point penalty being assessed on the associated player. If players split sets you have a 3 minute break before playing a 10-point Tie-Break where coaching is allowed. Players remain on the court. There is no talking to players during bathroom breaks. Audible cell phone usage near a court with play in progress is not allowed. Whenever an issue comes up during play, it is the responsibility as players to settle it amongst yourselves in a timely manner. You may leave the court to get an official if you need one. You may not leave the court without the permission of an USTA official or Court Monitor for any other reason. This includes in between sets. It is the player’s responsibility to keep up with their match times and site locations. Please check the tournament website frequently throughout the tournament as changes/updates may be made especially during a rain delay. If for any reason you feel an issue has not been resolved you may request to see the Referee with the exception of line calls made on your court. Have a great tournament!

This is a Great Sports event. Emphasize on Sportsmanship during the whole weekend.
This tournament is a Great Sports Event Tennis comes with a bloodline of sportsmanship that few other sports can match. Even though there are officials roving the courts, it is still an unofficiated sport. ?? Always give the benefit of doubt to your opponent on a close line call. ?? Make calls against yourself, such as a doublebounce or touching the net while the point is in progress. ?? Call out the score every point. ?? Congratulate your opponent on great shots. ?? Parents – be good sports outside the court. ?? And win or lose, end the match with a removal of hats and a handshake at the net! To reward the good sports at our tournament the officials or ditectors will be handing out pins to players who exhibit great sportsmanship and uphold the tradition of honor in our sport. Good luck to everyone!

New for 2015, players will
not be allowed to compete in a North Carolina Level 3 tournament in the 12U
division unless they have accumulated at least 300 ranking points in North
Carolina at the time selections are made. The North Carolina Junior Tournament
Committee put this rule in place to be sure that players are developing
properly in the correct pathway (from 10U Orange). All North Carolina state L4s
and L5s use green ball in the 12s, so the player has to earn their way into a
North Carolina L3 in 12U yellow ball.
