This tournament is a Great Sports Event
Tennis comes with a bloodline of
sportsmanship that few other sports can match. Even though there are
officials roving the courts, it is still an un-officiated sport.
* Always
give the benefit of doubt to your opponent on a close line call.
* Make
calls against yourself, such as a double-bounce or touching the net while
the point is in progress.
* Call
out the score every point.
* Congratulate
your opponent on great shots.
* Parents
– be good sports outside the court.
* And
win or lose, end the match with a removal of hats and a handshake at the
net!
To reward the good sports at our
tournament the officials or directors will be handing out pins to players who
exhibit great sportsmanship and uphold the tradition of honor in our
sport.
Good luck to everyone!

AD SCORING Orange balls will be used for 10 and under. The 12 and under division will play with the green low compression ball. All other divisions will play best two (2) out of three (3) sets with the 10 point tiebreak used in lieu of the third set.
|

If you split sets there is a 3-minute break between 2nd and the Tie Break (first to 10 points by 2). During the 3 minute break players may receive coaching at the back of court. Junior Suspension Points
Junior suspension points for failure to complete a tournament. The number of players not completing all matches in a tournament is high. There are numerous withdrawals once the draws are posted and many walkovers in the consolations. However, those who continuously fail to complete a tournament will understand this is not acceptable. Failure to play a match is not fair to opponents, costly to opponents, and not good sportsmanship. Refusal to play or continue to play for any reason other than retirement due to injury/illness or personal emergency=5 points Defaults or NO Show= 5 points Defaults due to late arrival for match= 1 point Withdrawal from a tournament after entries have closed for any reason other than injury/illness or personal emergency= 4 points
