|
130 PM WEATHER REPORT
The rain has been stopped for some time now and we have a window for play. We can have courts dry possibly within the hour at Laurel Park Tennis Center. Please begin heading this way. Those who arrive early and prepared to squeegee and help get their courts dry we will begin their matches. The current 4 hour delay is in effect but those who want to get here and start early can do so providing the rain stays away and the courts dry. Please check-in for all matches at the Laurel Park Tennis Center and idk up your t-shirts here and get a court assignment.
|
SUNDAY 12 PM WEATHER UPDATE
Still wet at the park. We have a 4 hour delay. Please add four hours to the time on your draw. We will update again at 2 pm with a final decision for the day. Please check-in and get your t-shirts from the tournament. We will not save them after today. And stop by and grab a piece of the big chocolate birthday cake left over from yesterday's rainout.
|
SUNDAY UPDATE 10 AM
We will post a weather update at 10 AM on Sunday morning.
|
SUNDAY SCHEDULE
NO matches will be scheduled before noon on Sunday. The times have been removed at this point. We will look at the weather patterns and schedule the tournament again later tonight with start times only. Once we have the start times set we will play the rest of the day on an "as follows basis". We will not schedule out the matches past the first round or the back draw. Players will be required to play their match and wait around for their next match to happen as a court opens up. We will be using Marietta High School on Sunday if the weather breaks in our favor.
|
330 PM WEATHER UPDATE SATURDAY
Rain had stopped in Marietta and streets were beginning to dry, we began to squeegee but at 330 the rain has resumed. We are going to cancel play for the day. We will resume with short scoring on Sunday and no decision has been made yet on the back draw matches for Sunday.
At last week's tournament we did not get started until Sunday but we were able to play using Marietta High School for some matches. Whenever we get started it would help if everyone went by in advance to the tennis center and checked in and picked up their t-shirts. We are on site now until 6pm tonight.
On Sunday we will likely give everyone a start time and then the procedure will be to play the matches as they finish on court. When the kids are done with one match they will be sent back out on to the court to play the next match.
|
WEATHER ISSUES AND GENERAL PHILOSOPHY
In general we are less apt to cancel our tournaments due to weather early in the day. We first run the tournaments as an opportunity for the children to play. Consequently, we will wait until the last minute to cancel for the day in most cases. The same holds true on Sunday.
We will first look to shorten the scoring for the matches and then we will look to cancel the backdraw. But none of these steps will be taken early in the day. They are options available to us as per USTA Guidelines.

WEATHER UPDATES
We will provide all weather updates here on this site. Please refer to this site for any weather updates. Do not call the tennis center for updates. We will not be able to answer things any better at the tennis center than what is written right here on this site.

DRAWS AND SCHEDULES
The draws and schedules will be posted on Thursday, October 1, 2015 after 4pm. Please check for the times and draws then.
|
LATE ENTRIES
The USTA has now determined we can take late entries into the tournament only if the "late entries" do not affect the seeding in the age group entered. If they affect the seedings in the age group entered the player WILL BE automatically moved up to the next age group where they do not affect the seedings. The "late entry" cannot be accepted if it more than the entry limit. Late entries are subject to a $15.00 late fee. You will need to pay all late fees, entry fees and Active Fees before you will be entered into the tournament. You will need to call the tennis center with a credit card at 770-919-8602 and ask to speak to Jennifer Weber in order to enter after the deadline has passed. We will accept a late entry that meets these criteria up until 2pm on Tuesday, September 29, 2015. After that we will not accept any later entries. LATE ENTRIES WILL NOT BE GUARANTEED ANY T-SHIRTS. INSTEAD OF T-SHIRTS THEY WILL BE GIVEN A SET OF STRING FROM WILSON SPORTING GOODS AT THEIR PLAYER GIFT. WE ARE NOT ABLE TO ADJUST THE ORDER AT THAT POINT FOR THE SHIRTS.
